Dream Flawless Nude VS Nude Magique

There are no excuses for my extended absence other than... uni?
I digress. Quickly.

Something I must point out first and foremost is that I hate the feeling of foundation, or just having an unnatural layer caked over the top of my skin. If my complexion decides on being nice that day then concealer all the way, but if needs be then a light mattifying coverage is the way to go (being an oily t-zone sufferer). Hence when L'oreal released their Nude Magique foundation, heaven opened up in the aisles of Boots. However, a host of brands have been releasing their own take on the liquid to powder formula, including more recently, the more budget friendly Maybelline. So a comparison post was deemed to be inevitable.

L'oreal Nude Magique was first of the releases and no doubt created a divide in opinion; some claiming that it filled a serious gap in the market, whilst others found it clinging to the dry patches. I personally love it. Of course the almost powder like finish is fit for keeping oil at bay and the more medium coverage keeps it a little more au natural. The staying power is fairly adequate for day to day purposes or even a night out, but you will see it fade as the day draws on. The one aspect I would change however, is the lack of applicator; the only way to get to this product is to either chance the pouring method (which for a clutz is a no go) or placing your finger over the top of the nozzle and tipping it, which is what is recommended on the packaging.  If you are wanting to give a formula like this ago and suffer from drier skin, then this is the one I would recommend from the two; it glides over the drier areas more so than the Maybelline option.

Maybelline's option sparked less of a hype, which is expected, arriving pretty late to the craze. Out of the two, this offers a little lighter coverage and a questionable, but more useful applicator. This formula does cling to the drier patches more but for an everyday foundation, I wouldn't turn it down. The longevity of this choice is no less than that of the L'oreal alternative; safe to say a heftier concealer is needed to hide those particularly stubborn pimples... or keep them peeking, to each is own.

At the end of the day, both are fairly similar in texture and longevity so I would highly recommend either one. If you're after a higher coverage then L'oreal's option is the way to go, but if you 'yearn' for that natural beauty look then I would lean towards Maybelline.
