THOUGHTS: Manhattan Soft Matte LipCreams

Lip products in general are an absolute weakness, so routing through Fragrance Direct, it was ultimately going to end in at least 1 lip purchase. Lip creams have been quite the hype since NYX released their take on the formula. I know when I was in my early teens that I formly owned one of the Collection (or collection 2000 as it was) lip creams and was treasured till the end of it's sad life, so it isn't essentially all to new to the inudstry... everyone was just kinda late to catch on I guess.

I've never heard of the brand Manhattan but for £1 a peice, it wasn't really something I found myself thinking all to much about. Also, as I said on the last post, I was intrigued to see what other companies would make of the matte liquid lip cream-esque formula.

31S is a nude sporting a slight pink hue which sort of takes me back to MAC's Shy girl, but of course, matte. I must admit, the pigmentation isn't something I would swoon over but I imagine that if this shade was opaque to the lips then it wouldn't be the most flattering... more like slightly washed out and a tad dead, which isn't a look you should aspire to, halloween being the only exception.

Of course, it was only fitting of me to pick out a more autumnal shade for fall and winter. 54L is a classic warm berry tone which is very easily worn and is in fact intensely pigmented. I don't really find  this suprising as the darker tones tend to naturally give off more of an opaque wash of colour.

Both, I find to be comfortable on the lips and apply smoothly. Being a matte formula, they do tend to last a little longer than your average gloss, giving you around 4 hours of colour before reapplication is needed.

I don't particularly mind the packaging. It's small and compact enough to fit the side pockets of your handbag. The design is simple and can easily tell one shade from the next due to the colour matched packaging.

If you are interested in purchasing these then I do advise to act on the thought fairly quickly as the more popular shades are selling out fast.
